St. Theresa's Altar Society
NATURE AND PURPOSE
1) The Altar Society of St. Theresa's is an organization of Catholic
women. Our purpose is the cultivation of a truly religious life among our
members, and by doing so, further the betterment of others.
2) The organization cares for the Altar and the interior of the
church building and its dependencies, under the supervision of the pastor
of the parish.
3) The society may take charge of certain activities beneficial to
the parish such as fund raising for a designated project.

CURRENT PROGRAMS
1) The Society is providing flowers for the Altar on the 1st
Sunday of the month.
2) We have our corporate communion on the 1st Sunday of
the month. This is offered for the living and deceased members of the
Altar Society.
3) Care of the Altar includes the purchasing of candles, altar bread
and wine, linens, and vestments.
4) Members of the Altar Society take care of the proper cleaning of
all altar garments.
5) We prepare a meal when a member loses an immediate family member.
We also have a rosary at the wake and an honor guard at the funeral.
6) Each month we have a fund raiser gumbo to fund our projects and
activities.

ACTIVITIES
1) Each year we have a dutch treat outing in May. In the past we
have visited prayer gardens, area homes of interest, retreat houses, or
had a meal in a nice restaurant.
2) An optional activity is being another member's secret pal. Each
participating member must acknowledge her pal's birthday and anniversary.
She also has a gift for her pal at Christmas. Many also remember their pal
on other holidays or occasions during the year.
3) Christmas Party- each year at the party we reveal the identity of
our secret pals.
